There will be a class 7/1 or 7/16 about 35 medics.

@bjgmedic89 I already did my drug test and physical, that was 2 years ago. This is my first letter since.

aaimee911 were you part of the 36 off of the old list that already started being processed before they came out with the new list or was yesterday the first time you heard anything

haha ya one of my partners at the fire house told me she received an letter... This is great news just because they are moving classes... I am under 20 on the new list... so i am sure we will get letters to do the physical this year for the next class

@rnemtp13 Yes, they will eventually pull people of the new list, but 36 people from the old list are getting their pre-employment medical exams done this week. And aaimee911 just said she is on the old list and just got a letter, as well. So no worries about stirring the pot

@LightandFight not to stir the pot, but i heard that they will be pulling the 50 off of the new list.

Hey guys, So word on the street there are 36 getting processed right now for a class in late june early july... I hear they want another 14 more to make it 50... Not too sure if they are going to grab from the new list or old list... I guess we will just have to wait and see

CfdAdmin are you sure they are crossing over 38 Single Role Medics? That seems like an awful lot. I heard anywhere from 11-20 crossovers. Who knows though that is why I'm just asking.

No argument from me Rac12, don't dispute any of that. If a group from an old list has already been processed and those resources have been used to get them through, they should be put through. Not disputing that at all. I'm more addressing people who are just on a list, period, and complain that a new one gets created before their time for processing/hire comes up. Just because you're on a list doesn't mean you're guaranteed to be hired off of it. If you've already been processed, then that's a different story, but even then, you weren't guaranteed anything and unfortunately this city has done that in the past, at least with fire lists. Lots of '95 men and women were processed a long ways and then just dropped. It isn't right, but it's happened.

Well now it doesn't matter what's been done in the past, because they already have continued processing processed people from the old list. And I completely agree that it's probably so they're not wasting all that money they poured into the old list's applicants. They made the new list because they are still short a lot of medics, and will most likely pull from the new list sooner rather than later. There was/is the possibility that people from the old list turn the job down (or don't pass the medical exam), so they have to be prepared and have the new list ready. Especially when they thought both the NATO and G8 summits were going to be held in Chicago. If the G8 summit was still being held here, I bet an academy would have started already so they'd be up and running by May.

No to argue, but doesn't seem financially responsible of a city who is already cutting valuable resources in the areas of police and fire to waste hundreds of thousands of dollars on people that they have already conducted home inspections on and background investigations on who's hiring was suspended by the overtaking of a new regime? So it's not that these men and women feel ENTITLED, but it is only the most cost effective strategy for a city who has already been financially irresponsible and who is trying to make up for it by attacking the people who serve the communities that fund it.
